We welcome the Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate in rejecting the Government’s proposed Lockout Laws coming before parliament in as little as three weeks. He shares our fears, that such changes could hurt the Gold Coast’s vibrant night-life, which is gearing up for the busy tourist season. “I support the way it is operating right now as an entertainment precinct and there should be no changes in Surfers Paradise or Broadbeach,” Mr Tate said. “International tourists frequenting our establishments do not understand lockouts, which can appear as an unfriendly gesture. I can speak from experience on this issue as an operator, business owner, tourism identity and now mayor … there are other security measures which could be taken to better address problems.” These Lockout Laws will cost up to 6000 or more jobs across Queensland. Join us in telling our Members of Parliament “NO!” ‪#‎OurNightOut‬ ‪#‎OurChoice‬
